hey yall
i know i owe you a few blog posts and some day soon i will get to them.
but for now, let's celebrate the love of my life, jes, who turns 28 today!
sweet young thing.
here is a picture of jes and some brooklyn friends on her 26th bday
and here is one of her from that same year here in atlanta. she is holding the card game "spite and malice" (kim and sarah got it for her) and wearing what is obviously her favorite hoody that year:
now here are a few pics from jes's 27th bday (also in new york). nikki and christina came to visit and we walked around williamsburg and froze our asses off. here is nikki and jes:
notice the new hoody (its mine) and new jacket (its hers). if only the pictures showed all the different shoes she was wearing.
here is another picture from her bday last year. we went on a bus tour of upper manhattan. we were also freezing here:
and now here is a picture from last week, not quite jes's bday, but at least you can compare and contrast during this short retrospective of my sweet honey jes:
ali and jes (dressed like twinkies in all black) are toasting with their girly fru fru drinks at this bar in columbus, ohio called, of course, "east village." while they were not technically toasting jes's bday, it does look festive, so that is the one i am going to go with.
we are going to spend most of today work on school stuff (jes outlining and me preparing for my class) but in there i will recycle and grocery shop and take care of ruthie dog. tonight she and i are going to get a romantical dinner at a tapas restaurant and then head over to emma and kristina's to meet up with some folks and play wii and hang out. i think it will be fun and chill all at once.
i will most def take pictures and post them forthwith.
happy saturday yall.
p.s. my friends kami and becky (b-e-c-k-beckybeckybecky) had their baby this week. her name is harvest lila. i plan to call her harvey. so cute.

it's been so long...
since we last talked.
my bad.
i was out of town
then sick
then busy with work and teaching
and still sick
and now here i am FINALLY blogging
so lets start at the beginning.
first of all, the boston red sox won the world series
and kim in new york and her puppy bambino were so very sad (they are yankees fans)
here is a picture of bam contemplating the future of the yankess:
so...
two weekends ago we traveled to vancouver, british columbia for the ninth international drag king extravaganza.
we flew into seattle and then drove up to vancouver. it was pretty cold and rainy for most of the trip, but the drive was kind of nice. i was *really* ready to be out of the car by the time we got to the hotel though. overall, it was a nice weekend. we got there thursday, checked in, took a nap, got some dinner and then stopped off at the meet and greet.
on friday i helped facilitate a race panel and jes and i walked down to the water to see the ocean and the mountains. even though it was a little overcast, it was still really beautiful. here is a picture of us in front of the water:
on friday night we headed to dragdom, at this bar called the penthouse. here is a picture of the marquee, how cool:
there were a lot of good numbers. two different groups did "dick in a box"- both were hilarious. we got to chat a bunch with my friend mel, which was nice. here is a picture of dd & mandy from austin:
on saturday morning i had to get up early and go to an idke board meeting at this restaurant. we got a lot done, in not so much time, which was really nice. here is a picture of us after our meeting. we are (from left to right): sammy tomato, dd, erin, jodi, mel, kentucky fried woman, kristin, and then julie and me up front. a bunch of folks from the board could not make it to vancouver, so they aren't in the picture. oh bother.
saturday brought more panels and whatnot. we were really hungry for dinner and walked around looking for some place, and we came upon this place called moxie's grill. seriously, it was one of the nicest looking restaurants i have ever been to. and we went sort of in between lunch and dinner, so it wasn't very crowded. first of all, the bathrooms were ridiculous. i made jes take a picture of them b/c they were so amazing. there was a FLAT SCREEN TV in the bathroom and just so you get a sampling, here is a picture of the sinks. i LOVE them:
so we ordered some beers (jes got local on draft and i got a corona, of course) and look at the delicious frosty mug i got with my corona. i thought atlanta kim would LOVE it:
so we were not crazy hungry, but we wanted some protein b/c we felt like all we were eating was carbs like muffins and such. so jes ordered some chicken and i ordered some salmon. OH MY GOD WAS IT GOOD. jes got a grilled chicken breast covered in pesto, a green olive tapenade, feta cheese, and tomato. it was divine. i figured since i was in the northwest, i thought i would get salmon since they just like pull it out of the water down the street. it had this sweet glaze on it and was seriously so good. we were both very satisfied with our meal, which was good b/c on friday night we got mexican food (i know why mexcan in canada) and it was horrible.
saturday night was the showcase and it was really good. it was in this lovely old theater and there were lots of good acts. i was video taping and jes took some photos, but most of them were kind of far away. so really the only photos we have are of folks off stage. here is a picture of max voltage and jodi bon jodi and the two other folks in their number (don't know their names, sorry):
and here is butch tap. they did this crazy tap dance number. outstanding:
and then here are just some pics of cuties. first up, supriya (one of the vancouver kings) and my twelve chins. good god:
and here is julie, jes and their new favorite canadian beer in a can:
and here is a picture of fe & erin at the showcase:
there were a lot of good numbers. a sordid collective from chicago did this sort of turn of the century freak show thing, boys r us from tuscon arizona did this great number about how race, power, privilege and production work, and austin did this cute number about hierarchies of power at service sector jobs. there were other good numbers but it is almost midnight and i am tired.
i will post more about the last two weeks tomorrow.
good night.
happy daylight savings time.
