lovefest-part one

so i am still trying to recover from our weekend in ohio for julie and liv's commitment ceremony.
it was just an amazing weekend. i got to see so many folks that i love, it was hard to leave.

our drive down on friday was fairly uneventful except for some traffic which made me want to scream a little.

we got to jasmin's house around dinner time. we hung out, drank some wine, ate some dinner and talked.
after dinner we went to graeters and got some delish ice cream. i got peach and jes got raspberry chocolate chip.
i almost couldn't handle how old jasmin is. first of all, she is almost as tall as me, and she just acts so grown up.
she plays soccer and softball, plays the guitar, does this thing called stacking AND writes songs. i mean come on! she is only 11 years old. i just feel so lucky to be able to watch her grow up. here is a picture of the two of us:

and here is a picture of jasmin doing this thing called "stacking." it's basically stacking up and bringing down tall stacks of cups. the point is to do it quickly. i am not sure how fun it is, but i think it could come in handy if she ever wants to work as a bartender.

we got up early the next morning, had a little tea and some toast and bid our goodbyes to jasmin and her folks. next we headed to the arena district to meet my goddaughter alix and her mom (and my friend) laura. I haven't seen either of them in years and alix is now 13 years old. i almost fell over when i saw alix. she, too, is almost as tall as me and has the most beautiful dimples, check out this pic of alix and laura:

aren't they both so beautiful?

we left alix and laura and headed over to the bbq that was taking place before the wedding. here we met up with alyson, nicole, and rowan. the best thing was when we were walking up there was a group of kids, mostly girls, discussing their families. one girl said "i have two daddies and a mommy" and then the other kid said "i have two mommies" and so on and so on. it was like i had died and gone to heaven. maybe some day this will be the discussion you hear on every playground in every city. dare to dream dt. dare to dream.

here is a very cute pic of the brides to be: liv and julie and some baby that was SO GOOD at the entire wedding. seriously.

so all the kids were running around the bbq eating way too many blow pops. they all had purple and red tongues and were bouncing off the walls. it was a good time. here is a picture of the future leaders of the world. amore is on the left (this is julie's niece, homey's baby girl) and then next to her is rowan. i don't know the other girls names. all i know is that they have two gay dads and they are adorable.

one of the gay dads told us two hilarious stories about his girls. a classmate of one of his daugthers found out that they had two dads and they exclaimed "man! they have TWO DAD's shoulders to sit on!" and then the other story had to do with one of the girls needing to pee at the park in new york so she took off her pants "pointed her vagina at the tree and peed" (that last part is a direct quote from the dad). we were all like "ooh teach rowan how to pee on a tree." things started to wind down at the bbq and we headed out to kim and dave's house where we were staying. before we got there, alyson and i wanted to see our old house on forsythe avenue in victorian village. jasmin's mom suzan had told me it was VERY different. for those of you who know what it looked like before, check THIS SHIT out:

after that we run a few errands and then went home and some of us took naps. rowan did the puzzle we got her (with a little help from jes). look how cute she is:

ok that is just a little nibble of what went on this past weekend. stay tuned for some lovely photos of the wedding.
good night.
