as you may remember, there were three babies born into my life earlier this year:
1. zach, my nephew
2. molly, my friend katie & john's daughter
3. julian, my friend mel & tanner's son
i think i posted a pic of zach in my last post, so here is an update on molly:
and here is one of julian.
pretty f-in cute, no?
not much else to report here. the weather is lovely, jes will be home for good in 12 days and larry keeps meowing at me and its making me want to scream. is that bad?

sunday lovely sunday
hey yall
i am tired today but i got a lot done
last night i went to a party with some new friends, had a great time but made the mistake of drinking wine and doing two shots of vodka (over many hours) but nonetheless it left me with a headache this morning.
on friday afternoon i had the honor of meeting and talking to dorothy allison, one of my favorite authors. i love her book Bastard Out of Carolina but i think i love Cavedweller more maybe. either way i am proud to report i DID NOT throw up on her but i did sweat profusely b/c i was so nervous. she's a real regular person and she loves toni morrison's book Sula too so that is good. another faculty member at the reception thought i was an undergrad and when she realized i was adjunct faculty she encouraged me to have some wine (since i was of age). i am thinking of dyeing (sp?) my hair gray so people will see me as a grown up. give me your thoughts on this.
other than that, life is pretty boring. jes will be home in about 23 days and i am thrilled. the weather has been lovely, and i love the smell and the look of all the blooming trees and bushes. soon it will be hotter than hades.
so i have some photos to post. the first three are of my friend tony and laura's son diego. tony and i went to graduate school together here in atlanta. now he teaches at memphis state university. diego, as you will soon see, is a total muffin.
i mean seriously.
and here is an up to date of my nephew smiley zach. i sort of feel like he looks like an entirely different kid. its weird how babies go through that where they look one way and then like two weeks later they are a completely different kid. either way, he is adorable here:
hope your night goes well. today is my friend Nicole's bday. Happy Birthday Nicole!

hi people
hey yall
so here i am, on a sunny sunday afternoon in decatur
em is purring and meowing at me, larry is laying to my right and horace is somewhere else.
i dropped jes off at the airport (FOR THE LAST TIME THIS SEMESTER...HOLLER!) and then did the recycling, dropped a movie off at blockbuster and now i am here. i am tired, but i can't allow myself to take a nap as i already took one nap today.
this morning we got up and had breakfast with sarah and kim at ria's.
it was delish as per usual. we were home by 10am and took a nap then jes got up and showered and finished packing.
last night i made some pasta and a spinach salad and some garlic bread and we had leah and katie over for dinner and mexican train dominoes.
on friday night we got taqueria del sol (of course) and then met emma out for drinks in the monsoon rain. we had planned on going to u joint to sit outside and then the rain began, so we ended up at the WAY TOO SMOKY AND LOUD 97 estoria. emma got a burger, jes got a pbr and i got a nice glass of red wine. my belly was a bit funky, early cramps i think, and the red wine took good care of it. thanks red wine!
most of our days this weekend were filled up with running errands. it was crazy b/c we made a list each day and actually got EVERYTHING done. i mean we did not miss one thing. this is quite unusual for us. i have to say running errands is so much more fun with jes then it is alone. i just like having the time to shoot the shit and catch up on stuff. and honest to blog, when she laid down next to me in the bed on thursday i thought i was going to melt. it was SO NICE to have the warmth of her body next to mine. i haven't really minded sleeping alone since she has been gone, i just lay diagonal (sp?) and hope some kitties will join me. but honestly, its much better to have her there.
she will be home in one month from tomorrow FOR GOOD and i am THRILLED!
ok i think i am going to try and make some green tea and grade some papers. oy i want to take another nap.
we watched "kite runner" yesterday. what a lovely story. jes fell in love with the book and i plan to read it this summer.
you should check it out.
happy sunday.

update
please strike from the record that emily peed TWICE outside the box and make that THREE TIMES, because shortly after i logged off of blogger, i went and got the kitties some catnip (aka kitty crack) b/c i am going to have to vacuum on wed before jes gets here anyway.
i laid out piles all over and returned to the couch where i was going through mail and paying bills. i hear something and look over and there is emily, peeing straight onto a pile of catnip which is located on the carpet. i tell her to stop and miraculously she does and then starts walking around and maybe squatting and then i pick her up and take her to the litter boxes upstairs and she wants nothing to do with them. so then i clean up the pee best i can and douse the carpet with this kitty cat stain and odor remover. who knows if that will get it out.
right now she is fast asleep next to me SNORING as she does. horace is on his scratchy box snoozing and larry is at his post next to the entry way table.
another fun fact is that our next door neighbors, the ones with the kid who needs ritalin and a very pregnant mom (yeah for impending crying newborns while jes is studying for the bar exam), also got a PIANO or some sort of electric keyboard. this means boy who needs ritalin is LEARNING HOW TO PLAY PIANO. you can imagine the joyous noises coming through our paper thin walls.
it is as if baby jesus is begging us to buy a house. i feel like he (baby j) is testing me like, who was that he tested in the bible? job? abraham? well whatever f-ing guy god tested, and i am sure he tested more than one, i feel like that fucking guy. he is saying to all the angels and good dead people in heaven "lets see how much dt can take: roaches, peeing and pooping kitties, neighbors playing religious songs and the cello on one side and introductory piano and bouncing boy on the other side. lets see how long before she goes running from the apartment" and then all the angels and other heaven folk giggle and say "fun game baby jesus/god, we love playing it."
ok enough of my pity party.
