we interrupt your regularly scheduled post about mexico...

to tell you three things

1. right after we got back from mexico, we went to the co-op to get groceries b/c all we had in the frig was some romano cheese, lots of condiments and some old chunky soy milk. ew. that's gross. anywho, while we were there, we saw spike lee's sister, joie lee.

if you don't know who she is, you should. she has been in almost all of his movies, not usually in main parts, but as a supporting actor. she was also in that terrible movie "coffee and cigarettes" by jim jarmusch (who i normally like, but he lost me in that one-i think we saw it for free in the theater and we walked out. it was that bad).

anywho i am pretty sure she was following jes around the co-op (i am sort of joking, but maybe jes will post about how she was everywhere jes was). it is a small place though, so maybe that is why). anywho she checked out right next to us and i think i remember her saying she is trying to stay away from white flour pasta (i try to too, but its hard. that whole wheat pasta is so chewy). she had lots of greens in her basket if i remember correctly. jes said she also gets the same kind of pierogies and bread that we get, and that she had lots of veggies and juice in her basket. so anywho, that was a cool celebrity sighting. who knew i had so much in common with spike lee's sister? ;)

2. we went and were part of the audience of the daily show with jon stewart on monday. jes was pretty amped up for this, and i wasn't for some reason. probably b/c it was cold and rainy that day and i didn't want to wait for HOURS in the cold and rain and maybe still not get a ticket. but guess what? we got off the train and it was not rainy anymore AND it was sunny. but once the sun went down it got COLD quick. i was not dressed appropriately so i was REAL ANXIOUS to get inside. once inside i got real excited and totally thankful we went. its really small in the studio (only seats about 150 people) and during the breaks they blast music so i was sort of losing my hearing a little. it was really funny and just neat to see how it works. when they air the already taped segments, jon would watch along and he was laughing his ass off, almost crying, so that made me laugh real hard too. jes is certain if you watch the show (it aired on monday, january 8th-you might could get it on demand) that you will hear me laughing. apparently, i laugh loudly.

3. last night we watched this fucking ridonkulous movie. its called "boca y boca" and its a spanish film with english subtitles. it came from netflix and i just assumed jes chose it since she is in charge of the netflix in our family. so we were both like "why did we get this movie" but we still watched the whole thing. its about this spanish guy who is trying to get an acting job but has to do phone sex to pay the bills and then gets caught up in this murder plot and shit. its really weird but we stayed up late to watch it for whatever reason. so after bickering about who chose it (jes was sure i did and vice versa) jes realized that we had wanted to see this indie film "mouth to mouth" (the translation of boca y boca) with this new young actress we liked from another movie. netflix sent us this. how hilarious is that?

ok i just thought i would let yall know those three things. if weather permits, i will be traveling to colorado for my sister's birthday this weekend. not sure yet if i will bring my computer, so the next mexico post may have to wait until i return.

happy hump day yall.

Fun facts! I love celebrity sightings. But why is it that I should know Spike Lee's sister? Besides that she's in his movies. You make it sound like there's something else cool about her. Ubdoubtedly there is (besides being a shopper in your co-op), but I don't know her. What does she do? I would LOVE to hear your laugh in the background of the Daily Show, by the way.
