lesbo love and my bday

ok yall, i am ready for my next post. i am rocking out to the soundtrack to dave chapelle's block party- higgins got it for me for my bday-YIPPEE!

so i can't believe its already been a week, but last weekend we headed to atlanta for our friends wedding. angie and elin were not only getting married, they were also celebrating their TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY of their relationship. how amazing is that yall? so we got to atlanta on friday afternoon and dawn and bailey picked us up. they took us to ragorama to sell some clothes-you know the ones that were REJECTED at the used clothing place in north park slope? yeah, so we sold back $200 worth of stuff, which meant if we wanted store credit, we would have had $100 in credit, but since we wanted cash, we got about $71-that ended up paying for most of our food for the whole weekend. HOLLA. if you are in atlanta, you need to go there, its in little five points. the folks are so nice and you can get some good stuff there. enough said.

on friday night we had dinner wtih nikki and christina at el myr. we had not seen them in a while and nikki has been dealing with some family shit, so we wanted to connect with them. they told us about this cruise they went on and the completely bonkers lesbo couple they met there. their stories were hilarious. then we met up with sarah and kim at the gravity. luckily we got to see sweet ashley this HAWT server that pretty much hates me, but thats ok, b/c she pretty. then we went home and begun to get caught up on the best show ever- WEEDS. i can't believe the crap that has happened on that show. if you don't watch it, you should. it's great.

on saturday we got taqueria del sol for lunch and then watched more weeds and then got ready for the wedding. everyone looked so beautiful. that is one thing i really love about weddings: you get to see your regular friends get all gussied up. ok so here is a picture of all my people:

and i like to call this one "gator and his bitches":

so angie (one of folks getting married) has three gorgeous nieces and of course b/c i am an ass, i have forgotten their names, but maybe elin will post their names in the comments section after she reads this. anywho, they were like bubble girls instead of flower girls and each one looked like a precious princess. check them out:

now i have been to a couple lesbo/gay weddings and i think the hardest part is when parents of the folks getting married won't come because they don't approve or whatever. what was absolutely lovely is that both angie and elin were walked down the aisle by their folks. that part almost made me cry. so here is angie and familia:

and here is elin and familia:

i think there is something magical about seeing where your friends come from. as much as parents make me nervous b/c i am always afraid i am going to say the wrong thing and offend them, i really like to just look at the moms and dads of my friends to try and figure out who they look like and stuff. so the ceremony was lovely-it was outside in the sunshine and because i am a total sap, i cried when they exchanged rings. now i am not sure if this is b/c i am programmed to cry at weddings or what. i like to think that it is because i am witnessing real love and commitment and i think that is powerful. so yeah, i cried. luckily i had a bunch of kleenex b/c my nose was running so i just dabbed my eyes and no mascara ran.

so after the ceremony we just chilled and drank and ate some delicious cheese. this walking stick bug jumped into both jes and gator's hair. clearly he wanted to hang with us, so i took a picture of him:

ok then the brides went around and chatted folks up. here is a picture of the lovelies:

and here are their pretty rings and pretty fingernails:

so we all moved inside and had some DELISH food. all i remember is the pasta and the spicy like pita chips and hummus. i am sure i had other stuff, but i can't remember it now. once everyone finished eating it was time to get our freak on. i *think* the first song was michael jackson, so, of course, i was on the dance floor. here is a pic of angie, elin and one of the nieces. so CUTE:

and here is one of kim rocking out with the little girls. she and i danced with them. they were so darling and so willing to just dance with anyone. no meltdowns or anything. they had to be exhausted, but they really took it in stride. great kids.

so we danced and danced and danced some more and then we headed out. it was a really beautiful wedding, i am so glad that jes and i flew back to atlanta to attend. after the wedding we went over to this friend of sarah and kim's named scott. they know him from mississippi and he is a lawyer. he lives in this RIDICULOUS condo in midtown. its like this huge hi rise and when he gets into the elevator and punches in his code it brings up the news he wants to see and plays the music he has programmed in. it also tells him if he has a package to pick up at the front desk. i was already overwhelmed with the luxury of the building and then i saw his place. really really nice.he has this deck or porch that is HUGE and you the view was sick. i mean i sort of felt like i was in a movie. everyone else there was from mississippi too. krista and john sang happy birthday to me (after midnight) and then some supplemental song from howdy doody. it was wonderful. and their other friend (i forget her name) talked about spray tanning ladies no no special places, and the owner of the place, scott, talked to jes and i about being from iowa and mississippi and about region and culture and what not. he was very charming.

from there we headed home and hit the hay. we were all exhausted. on sunday morning, we went to ria's for a bday breakfast. soo good. i got soysage and potatoes and jes and i shared some biscuits and gravy. sarah got BRISKET and kim got the omelette of the day. then they took us to the airport. now we were supposed to leave out at 2pm but our flight was overbooked so they asked for volunteers. we volunteered our seats and got $200 flight vouchers AND she booked us on the 3:30 flight in FIRST CLASS SEATS. now jes has never been in first class (i have only once on standby). it was GREAT. jes got a free mojito and i got a free vodka tonic. they gave us a "snack" (read a sandwich, fruit and brownie) and the seats were large and luxurious. here is a pic of my sugar living large:

after we got home, we headed up to north slope to meet up with glennda, kim and ali and got some ICE CREAM. i got a nice scoop of coffee. it was divine.

i have had other birthday adventures: jes took me to the color purple the musical and we had a lovely dinner before that and then last night i had dinner with higgins and bobby but it was cut short by me having to leave b/c i thought i was going to hurl. GOOD TIMES. anywho, more on that later. tonight i am having dinner with the ladies. they are making it for me. nice.

You have been so busy! We loved seeing you. Come back soon. Sandra and Lida are Angie's (and officially Elin's now, too, I guess--though I'm sure they've been her nieces for years) older nieces. I can't remember the little one's name.

Oh my god! I love the post!! It's great to see your point of view on the wedding. I love the pictures!

Yes, Saundra (10), Lida (5) and Nessa (3) are my neices, too - and have been for a good long while. I've known Saundra since she was 6 mos old! The family was so damn great about everything. We felt so blessed. We were so glad that you and Jes were able to make it!

I hope your birthday was great! It sounded fun.
